Hello All,

So, I found it beneficial to create the value scale and the color wheel, because it was more hands on. Rather than reading or watching a video, actually creating the value scale and the color wheel gave me a much better understanding that will be easier to remember from experience. As per the media used, my favorite was the videos that broke down the process. They helped me visualize what I was supposed to do and how to carry those skills over to the hands on activity this week. The most important discovery this week was the relationship that the colors had on the color wheel. It clearly demonstrated how the primary and secondary colors relate to one another. The most important thing I learned during this module is the different forms of art. There is a variety of ways to represent artwork and it all depends on how the artist wants to form their message based on form and color.

Here is my color wheel and value scale:

Thank you,

My First Blog

Hello all,

Well, setting up my blog and Gmail account was pretty simple, because I have done both before for one reason or another. I am less familiar with Blogger, so I am sure there will be things that I will learn this semester about this website. All I have to say about that is "Challenge Accepted". Learning about Blogger is just one of the many things I plan on taking away from this course. In general, I am expecting to walk away with a better understanding of the art world, because of this course. I want to learn about specific artists and their work. Hopefully the next time somebody asks me who my favorite visual artist is I will have an answer. Also, I am planning on learning about different forms of art and terminology that will help me better interpret other artists' work and their inspirations. Overall, hopefully I will walk away with enough information for me to have not only a better understanding of the art world, but a bigger appreciation for it as well.

As for taking an online course, it is no surprise to me. I have been taking online courses for a while and have learned how to be successful in them. It is all about time management, which is a skill I was forced to learn in college in order to get this far. I do work full time, so an online course helps me open up my work schedule to get all of my hours. I am a little apprehensive about taking an art class online, because it is usually a more hands on approached class, but I am sure it will work out fine. I know I can't be the only one that gets funny looks when I say I am taking an online art course. People think it is an abstract idea and don't understand how it will work, but I am an open-minded person that is looking forward to trying it out!
